Visit to the Temnikovsky Local History Museum of F.F. Ushakov

The first Temnikovsky Museum was founded in 1901 by the noble collection of the Temnikovsky district of the Tambov province. It was located in the premises of the city school. The origins of the museum were the Demidov nobles (descendants of the Ural breeders Demidov); the Kulunchakov princes (the grandparents of the Russian writer AI Kuprin); Ushakov (descendants of the Great Admiral F.F. Ushakov), Obolensky, Novosiltsev, Romanovsky, Churilov and many, many others. The museum was constantly open for mass visits, its funds totaled more than 3 thousand exhibits. On October 24, 1903, Comrade (Deputy) Minister N.P. Lukyanov approved the Charter of the museum.
By the beginning of the 1920s, the museum had natural history, October, school, archive departments, and a library. The museum was headed by the teacher of the Temnikovskaya school, E.N. Fleerina. This museum was closed in 1956, and all its exhibits were transferred to the Republican Museum of Local Lore (Saransk).
10 years later, P.P. Smirnov (1903 -2001), a well-known Mordovian local historian, researcher of the life of F.F. Ushakov, organized a new museum on a voluntary basis, which by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the MASSR of September 18, 1968 became a branch of the Republican Museum of Local Lore and was named "F.F. Ushakov Museum of Local Lore".
The museum is located in a historic building built in 1809. During the Patriotic War of 1812, there was a hospital here, which was maintained at the expense of Admiral F.F. Ushakov and priest A.
